world whisky index
whisky. how's that for the first word of 2008.
been talking much about whisky - and drinking much of it in 2007 - that it dawned on me that i have also been quaffing way too many beers in the past year. unsure if that will stop or continue depending on the world whisky index.
yes, the world whisky index which rates the value of rarity. most of the whisky on the index is way too rich - not just in value but am sure in spirit - for me.
the thing is, whisky drinking is getting bigger and bigger around the world. the new markets, like most new markets for goods these days, is china and india.
haven't been to china - hong kong doesn't count as china to me, but in india, spirits is a big thing and they have a plethora of brands and blends and some single malts too. same in pakistan.
but it is going to get bigger and bigger.
that's where the index comes in. launched in november 2007, the world whisky index is the largest and most exclusive whisky trading platform to buy and sell whisky in a secure way.
let alone drink it.
even as i write this, the index currently holds 3002 bottles with the oldest from 1926. the total value on january 1 2008 is estimated at 448,632 euros with the most expensive bottle valued at 3,700 euros.
go figure that out.
me, i need a drink!
cheers and a happy new year to all.
